International Planning and Construction

 Working abroad, particularly in the European Union (EU) and developing countries of Africa and Asia, bears enormous potential. Recognizing the importance of international planning and construction in today’s global village, the Architecture Department at the University of Siegen offers lectures. It conducts valuable and tailored research in the mentioned fields.  The Institute for International Planning and Construction. is led by B. Bielefeld and Dipl.-Ing/MSc Alias Wardak.

Besides the existing framework conditions in the countries, the specifics of each project phase is examined, whereas not only technical but also economic, legal, socio-cultural, ecological, and organizational aspects are contemplated to (a) increase knowledge, (b) mitigate risks and (c) contribute to the provision of more effective solutions. The services' scope covers planning, technical advisory, monitoring & evaluation (M&E), Capacity building and knowledge transfer, and construction services in the areas of civil engineering, energy, water and wastewater, urban development, and recycling management.

Based on a scientific approach and proven experience in working on international projects, coupled with a multi-disciplinary approach by engaging architects, engineers, economists, sociologists, environmental scientists, lawyers, and other subject-matter experts, a new level of quality and service delivery is achieved that facilitate the provision of sustainable, holistic and tailored models for planning and construction. 
Our holistic approach provides us with the ability to have an in-depth look at the different planning aspects and minimize the occurence of potential risks during the entire project life cycle. By considering the energy and environmental areas within the approach, an essential aspect of technology transfer and sustainable planning and management is covered by our team, which indicates our commitment to the provision of holistic approaches.
